Towards the end of 2013, Probedrill successfully completed the first “floating” CPT using the Marshbuggy rig.
Testing was undertaken on a tailings dam in Newcastle where winch, ropes and shore anchors were used to steady the rig.
Probedrill employed the services of MMD Naval Architects to conduct stability testing on the Marshbuggy. A design for additional pontoons was determined, and once built, further stability testing was conducted.
CPTu testing was successfully completed to depths of more than 70m. We also used our sediment sampler on this Project and achieved a 100% sample recovery rate at depths of more than 70m (qt values between 0.2 – 1.0MPa)
