We have recently performed several Electronic Plate Load tests around the Perth Metro area and would like to provide you with an update on our Plate Load Testing services and equipment available.
Plate Load Testing can be used to determine the strength characteristics of soil in situ by measuring the amount of deformation and force when a rigid plate is forced to penetrate the soil.
The test applies a vertical load (by using the fine control of our CPT hydraulics) and measures the load (kN) applied and displacement (mm) of the plate, using an electronic load cell and displacement sensors. This electronic data is recorded throughout the test and provided as raw data (and plots) once load correction and stress calculations (kPa) are applied.
Plates stay attached to the rig for quick and easy setup on subsequent test locations with no additional plant required on site. And g iven the Plate load testing is conducted by our CPT Rig, it can then be used in conjunction with our any of our additional geotechnical testing services.
As with all our CPT Rigs, if you require additional rigs on site, we are happy to do this for the cost of only one mob/demob.
Plate Sizes
We currently have the following three plate sizes available:
- 750mm – max. bearing capacity 450kPa
- 500mm – max. bearing capacity 1000kPa
- 300mm – max. bearing capacity 2800kPa
